I love to run! Ha- not something you hear everyday; but it's true: I love to run. I am not a fast runner by any means, yet I can find a solid groove and cruise. Running brings me joy - so I'm giving myself permission to get back into it. I've challenged myself to run an organized 5K once a month for 2018 (and clock in miles on the NRC app in between races). So far so good! I'm learning a lot about my body, making new running friends, and having a great time revisiting familiar courses and enjoying new courses. The LA Big 5K will be race will be my 1st race in March.

About the race:
The 2018 LA BIG 5K will take place on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Dodgers Stadium. This family-friendly 5K is open to participants of all ages and abilities, including runners, walkers and strollers. Experience an iconic run through Los Angeles and kick of your St. Patrick's Day celebration with a unique finishers medal, live entertainment, pre- and post-race refreshments and a truly unforgettable race experience. The LA BIG 5K is part of LA Marathon Weekend. Parking: Parking for the LA BIG 5K is free. Getting to the Race: Due to street closures for the LA BIG 5K, only two entrances will be open to Dodgers Stadium for participants: 1- the Sunset Gate, accessible via Sunset Blvd, and 2- the Downtown Gate, accessible via CA-110. These gates will open at 6:00 a.m. PST. (Note: The Golden State Gate, accessible via I-5, will be closed until 10:00 a.m. due to street closures.) Please allow yourself plenty of time to get into Dodgers Stadium before the start at 8:00 am. Course Map: The LA BIG 5K course shares a Start Line with the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon and winds through Elysian Park to finish steps from Dodgers Stadium. |

6:00 a.m. -- Dodger Stadium Parking Lots Open 6:30 a.m. -- Late Registration/Bib Pick-Up Opens in Lot G 8:00 a.m. -- LA BIG 5K Race Start 9:30 a.m. -- LA 1/2K Kids Run Start Registration: There is still room in the race for you! Registration for the LA BIG 5K is open and will take place until race day, as there is same-day registration on Saturday morning. Treat yourself to something new: consider signing up for this 5K. * * REGISTER FOR THE LA BIG 5K HERE. * * If you're participating in the StepBet, this race might be a great way for you to get your numbers up! If you're not a runner or jogger, no worries. The beautiful thing, and actually a little known fact about organized races: there are communities of walkers that take pride in participating in races. Running is not a requirement to be part of an organized race. You can do it if you want to, but you don't have to.
