Soul Soothe Sunday with Jacqlyn
Sunday, March 12, 2023
3:00 p.m. PST / 6:00 p.m. EST
Picture
Meet Jacqlyn:
In the early 2000s, Jacqlyn discovered yoga while working and traveling regularly for a healthcare consulting firm. She found yoga brought a grounding she needed living in a different location every three to six months. Jacqlyn began practicing yoga more consistently after the tragic loss of her mother in 2012. It was during this time that Jacqlyn began to discover yoga teaching her how to be more comfortable in the uncomfortable, and navigate grief and change.

Following a wellness retreat Jacqlyn attended in 2018, she also began studying Ayurveda and the deep connection between mind and body. She was inspired to then complete the Perfect Health: Ayurvedic Lifestyle enrichment program with the Chopra Center. Finding herself on pause with the corporate world in 2022, she also completed a 5-month long Experience Alaya 200HR Yoga Teacher Training at Palisades Yoga with Meg McCraken and Lauri Glenn.

Jacqlyn is a life-long voyager of holistic wellness for individuals, organizations, and communities.
She wishes to help others to overcome fear and challenges, continuously evolve to become their most well and authentic selves, and thrive! Jacqlyn's approach to yoga focuses on the balance between strength and flexibility, effort, and rest. You can expect an experience of mindful movement, breath and energy restoration.

Jig for Joy with Keara
Wednesday, March 15, 2023
10:30 a.m. PST / 6:30 p.m. GMT
Picture
Meet Keara:
Originally from Los Angeles, California; Keara began her Irish dance career at the age of 5 making her transition from competitive dance to being a professional performer at age 19.  Keara has had the unique opportunity to grow in her love of psychology while studying and sharing her love of dance and performance through her 20's by devoting her time to an education that lead to an early career in developmental psychology at the University of California, Irvine; while simultaneously performing with various groups (OCPAC Arts Teach, Irish Pride Dancers) and in television appearances (Disney, ABC, NBC).

In 2012-2013, while completing her Master of Social Work at the University of Southern California where she worked exclusively with various homeless populations, Keara continued her performance career as an Ensemble dancer at Battle of the Dance (Anaheim, California).  After completing her masters, Keara returned one last time to the world of Irish dance first as a cast member, then as the Dance Director for Kerry Irish Productions until her retirement from profesional dancing in 2019.

Keara now lives in Ireland to be closer to her family and her cultural roots.  She currently teaches workshops on integrating dance and movement into mental health to secondary (high-school aged) students - workshops which, of course, always include a step or two.  She is so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this year's Mindful March, and cannot wait to share how a real Irish jig can, indeed, be a delightful part of anyone's mental health toolbox!

Class Donation:
A portion of donations received for Keara's Jig for Joy class will be donated to Everybody Dance LA!, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming lives and communities through the power of high-quality dance education in low-income areas of Los Angeles. Everybody Dance LA! has a vision to cultivate in our young students of dance the lifetime skills of collaboration, discipline and self-expression so they become confident and engaged participants in their education, career and community.
About Everybody Dance LA!:
Everybody Dance LA! was founded in 1999 by Liza Bercovici in memory of her 13-year-old daughter Gabriella Axelrad, who loved to dance. The organization was originally called The Gabriella Foundation, home of the Everybody Dance! program. Liza had a vision to bring the joy and impact of dance to low-income communities in Los Angeles. She started with 25 students in the MacArthur park neighbor and the creative insights of founding Artistic Director Carol Zee. The program grew rapidly and expanded to include the In-School, Summer and Enrichment programs.
Today Everybody Dance LA! serves more than 4,000 students annually with high-quality dance education. In 2014 Everybody Dance! was awarded the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award from Michelle Obama. In 2015 Liza founded the award-winning Gabriella Charter Schools. She is now the Executive Director of the GCS charter schools and both organizations work to enrich the lives of Los Angeles youth.
