Class Description:
Let's get a jump start on spring cleaning - from the inside out! We'll come together to identify, locate, and breathe into our chakras*. We'll stretch and move in alignment to honor each chakra, listen to our bodies, and journal about the experience (optional).

​*About Chakras:

There are seven chakras within the body. These seven chakras are the main energy centers of the body**. Chakra translates to "wheel" in Sanskrit, and you can imagine them like wheels of free-flowing energy. Chakras are located from the base of the spine through the top of the head. They have distinct and specific purposes in aiding and assisting our mental, emotional, physical, spiritual health and well-being.

​**The seven chakras, energy centers of the body, are:​
  1. ​Root Chakra (Muladhara) represents our foundation. On the human body, it sits at the base of the spine and gives us the feeling of being grounded.
  2. Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana) helps inform how we relate to our emotions and the emotions of others. It also governs creativity and sexual energy.
  3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) speaks to your ability to be confident and in control of your life.
  4. Heart Chakra (Anahata) is the bridge between the lower chakras (associated with materiality) and the upper chakras (associated with spirituality). As the name suggests, this chakra can influence our ability to give and receive love—from others and ourselves.
  5. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) gives voice to the heart chakra and controls our ability to communicate our personal power.
  6. Third-Eye Chakra (Ajna) controls our ability to see the big picture and connect to intuition. Think of it as the eye of the soul: It registers information beyond the surface level.
  7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) the highest chakra, sits at the crown of the head and represents our ability to be fully connected spiritually.

'Pranayama' is a Sanskrit word to describe yoga breathing exercises that have the ability to quickly increase our energy, release stress, improve our mental clarity, and improve our physical health. More recently the term 'breathwork' is​ being used in the western world to describe these breathing exercises or pranayama.

Let's come together, bring awareness to our breath, and practice mindful breathing techniques that have positive and lasting health benefits.

Friday Night In: Foot Masks
Yep, you heard it right: foot mask.
When was the last time you mindfully and/or intentionally paid attention to your feet and did something nice for them? Real talk: we take our feet for granted - they show up for us and hold us, move us, guide, us, connect us to/from/through/around this Earth and world. I know I need to spend more time intentionally expressing gratitude for and honoring my feet - and today feels like a good day to start.

Grab your favorite foot mask, put a "Do Not Disturb" sign up on your door; light a candle or some incense, and meet me in our self-care Zoom room.

About First Quarter Moon:
This phase got its name because at this point the Moon has traveled 1/4 of the way through its orbit. It’s a confusing label, though, because at this time from our perspective, 1/2 of the Moon’s surface is lit. In fact, both the first and last quarter phases are sometimes called a Half Moon. At first quarter in the Northern Hemisphere, the right side of the Moon is illuminated; in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s the left side. In actuality, we are seeing 1/2 of the lit side of the Moon because the entire illuminated surface is only partly facing our direction. In other words, the Moon is perpendicular to the Earth/Sun line. During a first quarter phase, the Moon is said to be at east quadrature, meaning that it is 90 degrees east of the Sun when viewed from Earth.

About Pisces:

About New Moon:
This phase is named as such because it starts a new lunar cycle. At this time, the Sun and Moon are in conjunction, meaning that they are closest together in the sky, on the same side of Earth (Sun→Moon→Earth). From our perspective, the Moon appears totally dark: We can not usually see it because we are facing the Moon’s shadowed side, which does not receive any direct sunlight. But if we were to travel to the other side of the Moon, the part that faces the Sun, it would be totally illuminated.

Class Description:
Candle Light Meditation is a meditation practice where we focus our sight and our attention on the flame of a candle.
It is an open-eye meditation practice that helps increase focus and concentration.

As we all know, the flame of a candle has some mystery in it, and it attracts our attention. We are often mesmerized and hypnotized by fire- it flickers, changes it shape, produces a halo, and displays several colors. All this fascinates the mind, attracts the attention, and may put the mind in a relaxed mood. (If it activates the mind and the mood is opposite of relaxed, this is okay, too.)

Let's come together, fan the flame of our personal candles and collective energies, and practice being present in the moment. We'll focus our sight and attention, sync our breath, and (re)discover or (re)claim our peace, stillness, and serenity.

Alexeyeva is a 200HR Registered Yoga and Meditation Teacher based in Southern California. Her favorite styles of yoga to practice include Hatha, Vinyasa, and Hip Hop Yoga. Her favorite styles of meditation to practice include mindfulness, mantra, breathwork, and sound healing meditations. She has completed not one, but two different 200HR teacher trainings: the first through Wanderlust in Olympic Valley, CA; and the second through The Tree South LA in Los Angeles, CA. She has completed trainings and earned certifications in Mindful Resilience through Veterans Yoga Project and Yoga For Healing Trauma through UpRisingYoga; as well as a Reiki I & II Sacred Energy Practitioner certification through Rest In Power Yoga and Reiki. When she is not on her yoga mat, or in a class or new training, Alexeyeva enjoys reading, running, going to the beach, lifting weights, travelling, making friendship bracelets, volunteering, doing anti-racist and decolonizing work, watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and spending time with the people and pets she loves.
What I love most about yoga: it meets you where you are and gives you what you need (TM). Yoga lovingly embraces you while physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging you- in different ways, at different times, on different days. I am passionate about creating a safe space for exploration of movement and mindfulness, guided by consciousness of the breath, in order to grow, learn, mature, and elevate to our highest, most divine, creative, loving, and authentic selves. 

Hi! I'm Alexeyeva. An OC girl living in and loving this City of Angels. Yoga called out to me more than 10 years ago - and to this day, I will never forget what it felt like to roll out my mat and get centered for my first class. It felt like coming home.  With over four years of teaching experience, I'm a body positive, accessibility-inclusive, trauma-informed, self-love advocate who is on a mission to share her love of and passion for movement with whoever will listen and stay awhile/play. A forever student of the practice, I'm humbled by and grateful for the freedom and courage this yoga journey has allowed me to tap into and encouraged me to live out loud.

​When I'm not playing yoga or meditating, you can find me at the gym lifting weights, running with a group around DTLA admiring street art, daydreaming of traveling back to Italy, practicing my Italian and Spanish on Duolingo, eating an apple, reading a book on the Metro Red Line, all up in the social medias, at an LA Galaxy soccer match, and/or stalking the pet adoption web sites trying to decide if it is finally the right time to get a cat.
What I love most about yoga: it meets you where you are and gives you what you need (TM). Hi! I'm Alexeyeva. An OC girl living in and loving this City of Angels. I was first introduced to meditation as a child- through prayer and the chanting Catholic monk CDs my mom would play sometimes. I didn't really know what 'meditation' was back then- I just knew that I liked how good I felt when I would slow down and pray the rosary; and that I liked how my mind felt less busy when the chants were on. Fast forward to my next conscious experience with meditation: slowing down and finding my center before a Bikram Yoga class. We were encouraged to roll out our mats, lay flat on our backs, and concentrate on our breathing in order to get used to the heat in the room. A few years later, I arrived at my first hatha yoga teacher training and was curiously overjoyed to discover that meditation was a huge foundation of our training. Exploring various forms of meditation and establishing a regular meditation practice changed everything for me! I fell in love with the power and sensations of my breath- which gave me permission to begin a radical journey of self-love. With over four years of a regular meditation practice, and over two years of leading meditation classes, I'll forever be a student of this practice. I'm humbled by and grateful for the freedom and courage this yoga and meditation journey has allowed me to tap into and encouraged me to live out loud.

​When I'm not playing yoga or meditating, you can find me at the gym lifting weights, running with a group around DTLA admiring street art, daydreaming of traveling back to Italy, practicing my Italian and Spanish on Duolingo, eating an apple, reading a book on the Metro Red Line, all up in the social medias, at an LA Galaxy soccer match, and/or stalking the pet adoption web sites trying to decide if it is finally the right time to get a cat.
